Mr. Cruz has a background in fisheries biology and anadromous fisheries monitoring. He has years of experience as a field biologist and researcher, where he has monitored salmonids in Big Sur and Northern California, studied wildfire ecology and disturbance in Northern California, and surveyed riparian ecosystems in post-fire forests in Western Oregon. At PWA, Edgar works on various projects, including in-stream and off-channel fish habitat restoration, fish removal and relocation, and fish habitat feature designs. He conducts field-based surveys and data analysis for salmonid habitat assessments, adult salmonid escapement, juvenile salmonid occupancy, and habitat utilization. He holds two bachelor’s degrees from UC Santa Cruz—one in Environmental Studies and the other in Fine Arts. In his free time, Edgar enjoys creating visual art, rock climbing, and connecting with the natural world.
